The U.S. women’s basketball team won the gold medal at the FIBA 3×3 CONCACAF Championship on Sunday, defeating Brazil 21-20.
Dirica Hamby’s inverted shot off a pass from Kelsey Mitchell at the final whistle clinched the victory for the U.S. team. Hamby’s shot capped a big comeback for the U.S., which trailed 19-13 with just over two minutes left in the game.
Katie Lou Samuelson, playing in her first game since becoming a mother four months ago, scored nine points for the U.S., Hamby six, Mitchell five and Camille Zimmerman one.
In the men’s tournament, Puerto Rico defeated Brazil 18-14 in the final to win the gold medal. The U.S. men’s team lost in the quarterfinals and finished in sixth place.
